Daouda Traore | Founder, CEO

BS International Business Administration, MBA Strategic Sustainability, Humboldt State University, California, USA

Daouda’s vision is to create a sustainable business environment in which people, planet and profit work in harmony. As founder and CEO, he develops both short-term and longterm projects, oversees customer relationships and contracts, and coordinates suppliers, engineers and technicians.

Daouda was born and raised in Burkina Faso and was a business owner in Burkina Faso and Ghana before studying business in California. He speaks several languages including English, French, Malinké and Mooré (West African languages). His diverse, multicultural background along with a passion to make a positive difference in the world make Daouda uniquely adept at navigating the opportunities and challenges of bringing solar energy to Africa.

Hans Stullken | Board Member

Hans is Vice-President of Business Development and brings a wide-range of solar experience to North State Solar Energy.He got his start in the solar industry as an installer and later a Project Manager for one California’s premier commercial solar installation companies, Solaris. There he oversaw the installation of over 4.5MW of solar PV. He later moved to Arizona where he built out the solar division for One Way Solar System. There he helped jump start sales, hired and trained installation crews, ran day-to-day business, developed marketing campaigns, created an inventory control system, and personally designed and permitted all the solar systems. After two years in Arizona, Hans decided to move back to Northern California and take a job for DC Power Systems, the Country’s largest solar equipment distributor.  At DC Power Systems he gained a deep understanding of products, built relationships with manufacturers, and helped create unique financing packages that lower the upfront costs to install solar.  Hans spent two years at DC Power Systems before being recruited by US Solar Distributing to run their sales division. Hans was the National Sales Manager for US Solar Distributing.

Kévin Zossi Sanou |Project Advisor

Certificate of Entrepreneurship, Managerial and Business Administration, International Education Center of Excellence (IECE/SCI), Connecticut, USA  

Kévin Zossi is an expert in decentralized rural electrification strategies and sustainable development concerns of sub-Saharan countries. He has had fifteen years of experience in the energy sector, where he has worked on electrification of rural areas, including his own village. Kévin has participated in major energy events in Johannesburg in South Africa, Port Harcourt in Nigeria, Bamako in Mali and the 24th World Energy Congress in Abu Dhabi in the Arab Emirates United in 2019. He was born in Burkina Faso and speaks French, English and several West African languages (including Dioula and Mooré).

Moussa Sy | Lead Onsite Generation

MS of Chemical  Engineering, Syracuse University, New York, USA, BS Environmental Science Sustainable Energy, San Jose State University, California, USA  

Moussa’s expertise lies in providing solutions to clients needing clean energy through onsite renewable energy generation and storage. He worked for the City of San Jose Public Works in California where he helped improve the Clean Energy program. As a research assistant at San Jose State, he studied energy irrigation for agricultural systems in developing countries. Currently he is completing his Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering at Syracuse University in New York. Moussa was born and raised in Mali, and he is fluent in French, English and several native West African languages.

Bruce Rhodes | Community Outreach Coordinator

Bruce studied Architecture and Urban Design In New York in the 1970’s, and worked with some of the first solar energy companies in Colorado during the 1980’s. While training and collaborating with a wealth of solar energy pioneers, Rhodes founded “Drums For Solar,” a Nonprofit Organization dedicated to providing solar technology and training to Africa.

Bruce not only brings extensive experience in the solar community to Dalilou, but also a unique talent for outreach with communities and members in the solar energy industry.

Sounkalo Dembele | Outreach and Business Development

BA English as a Second Language, ENSUP (Ecole Normale Supérieur) University of Bamako, Mali

Sounkalo is a communication consultant, and his role in Dalilou is outreach and business development in Mali. He is a founding member of the Rotary Club, Bamako-Yelen, and board member of ESRAG (Environmental Sustainability Rotarian Action Group). Sounkalo is the founder of a nonprofit organization, School Net-Mokoya Juru, which works in education, the environment and renewable energy. He has been involved with several NGOs including VIDES, Bamako Niger River Guardians, a Waterkeeper Alliance Affiliate, and Drums for Solar. He was born in Mali and speaks and writes French, English, Mandingue, and other West African languages.
