To deploy technology and skills, to produce energy from renewable sources, and to empower the lives of people.
SOCIAL EMPOWERMENT
Powering up a remote village can profoundly transform the lives of its inhabitants. One microgrid or a few panels can provide power for clean drinking water or water to grow crops off-season. Solar power can connect people via phones or internet, and provide opportunities for distance learning, work coordination, and remote employment. Access to solar power can empower individual citizens, villages, and local businesses, raising the standard of living for entire communities.
Governments and non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) are currently creating incentive programs aimed at replacing fossil fuel-based energy with renewable sources. Dalilou Energie wishes to partner with these communities and corporations in sub-Saharan Africa.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
As climate change becomes a growing, existential problem, the need for clean renewable energy is becomes paramount.
Sub-Saharan Africa’s rich biodiversity and abundant year-round sunshine make it a natural to lead the world in curbing climate change. A solar energy infrastructure would provide resilience and security for areas affected by climate change, and help enable communities to withstand the effects of more frequent and intense natural disasters.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Solar energy is a great way to reduce the cost of energy use as well as generating jobs. The cost of solar collection and storage equipment has fallen significantly in the past decade. Solar power can be installed in a matter of weeks, rather than waiting years and paying millions of dollars for traditional power plants or grids to be installed. Once the equipment is installed, electricity is generated, essentially, for free. Break even points come in 3-5 years, and panels may last 20 years or more. Solar energy, along with energy efficient mechanical and electrical systems, over time, bring signifiant savings to property owners and consumers.
The introduction of renewable energy systems creates jobs – solar installation, manufacturing, and many other opportunities – proving a much needed economic boost for impoverished areas. Dependence on imported fossil fuels is reduced, fostering energy independence and security to local communities.
